How to choose a bed frame
- Know the real footprint. The frame adds space beyond the mattress. A king mattress is 76 by 80 inches, but a king sleigh bed can reach about 85 to 95 inches long.
- Check what support it needs. Platform beds often need no box spring. Other frames need a foundation. Ask before you buy so you do not pay for a base you do not need.
- Mind the height. A total sleeping height (frame plus mattress) of about 24 to 26 inches is comfortable for most adults to sit and stand.
