Tables for Massachusetts Homes

Tables hold a room together. This collection covers coffee tables, end tables, console and sofa tables, occasional table sets, lift-top tables and dining tables, in wood, glass, marble-look and metal.

How to size your tables

• Coffee table. Aim for about two thirds of your sofa length, 16 to 18 inches from the seat, and a height within an inch or two of the seat cushion.
• End tables. Keep the top at or just below the sofa arm height, usually 22 to 26 inches, so a lamp and a drink are easy to reach.
• Console tables. Behind a sofa, match the table height to the sofa back or slightly lower. In a narrow entry hall, a depth of 10 to 14 inches keeps the path clear.

With young kids, round or rounded corners are safer. A lift-top coffee table gives you a spot for a laptop or dinner in front of the TV, which helps in smaller Massachusetts apartments without a separate dining room. Shop full dining sets separately.
